EDMONTON — Edmonton city officials are reportedly planning on loosening the rules for sidewalk patios and food- truck permits.
“We’re trying all kinds of things to get people out on the streets and support unique local businesses in Edmonton,” Councilor Don Iveson was quoted as saying in the Edmonton Journal.
According to the Journal, the city is looking into allowing mobile food trucks to stay open past the current closing time of 11 p.m. as well as allowing them to set up serving tables and swap locations with other food vendors.
And, that’s not all. Among other things officials are also lobbying the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission to re-examine rules about serving alcohol on an outdoor patio.
