EDMONTON — Edmonton city officials are reportedly planning on loosening the rules for sidewalk patios and food- truck permits.

“We’re trying all kinds of things to get people out on the streets and support unique local businesses in Edmonton,” Councilor Don Iveson was quoted as saying in the Edmonton Journal.

CALGARY — Alberta pork is being championed at participating restaurants across Western Canada as part of Passion For Pork, a new initiative designed to ignite the country’s excitement for local pork.

“We started the program in the spring as an educational initiative. People want to know more about pork — what they can do with it, how they can cook it and where they can buy it,” Darcy Fitzgerald, executive director at Alberta Pork, the organization behind the initiative, told the Calgary Herald.
