A&W Adds 15 Units to Royalty Fund PDF Print E-mail

awlogo2VANCOUVER — Already enjoying a successful run, which included a Kostuch Publications Pinnacle Award this month, A&W Revenue Royalties Income Fund, and A&W Food Services of Canada Inc., announced more good news. Effective Jan. 5, the number of A&W restaurants for which royalties are paid to A&W Trade Marks Limited Partnership will be increased by 20 new units that were opened across Canada between October 2009 and September 2010, less five restaurants that were permanently closed during this period.

The addition of 15 net new restaurants brings the total number of A&W eateries in the Royalty Pool to 715. Since 2002, the number of restaurants for which royalties are paid to the Fund has increased by 130 restaurants, from 585 to 715.

oceanwisecookbook2VANCOUVER — Ocean Wise has declared November Ocean Wise Month, challenging consumers and foodservice insiders to celebrate and promote sustainable fishing practices.

The Vancouver-based organization, whose logo appears on menus and seafood products that it deems ocean-friendly, is ringing in the month by celebrating its new cookbook and hosting a foodie-friendly event.

Freelance writer Jane Mundy’s Ocean Wise Cookbook, is a compilation of popular seafood dishes from Canadian chefs such as Michael Smith, Rob Feenie and Jamie Kennedy. Recipes include puff pastry fish pie, tuna tataki with green papaya slaw and Beaver Cove spot prawns with citrus basil butter. Add a comment

VANCOUVER — With the fall season upon us, the Canadian Tourism Commission has kicked off its seasonal consumer campaign in hopes of bringing a new set of tourists (and, hopefully, foodies) to our shores.

Canada. Season to Taste, follows the successful spring Canada: See it Now U.S. campaign. It focuses on TV, online and outdoor transit advertising in key American cities, such as Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco. For the first time the CTC is also focusing on a new market, Chicago.

awlogo2VANCOUVER — A&W Food Services of Canada Inc. recently announced its second annual ‘Cruisin' for a Cause’ fundraiser, held Aug. 26, nearly doubled last year's total and raised more than $700,000 for the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada.

"A&W would like to thank all its customers, staff, classic car owners, car clubs and other supporters for helping to make the second annual event such a huge success," said Paul Hollands, president and CEO of the QSR chain. "I am very proud of both the A&W and Multiple Sclerosis Society teams' passion and commitment to this important cause and hope our partnership can help to make a difference in the lives of the 55,000 to 75,000 Canadians and their families living with MS."
