|Canon Shines Spotlight on Chefs|

“Canada has some of the most talented and respected chefs in the world,” said Stan Skorayko, senior manager of Corporate Communications at Canon Canada Inc. “They are also among the most generous and helpful people you will ever meet. In fact, each chef exemplifies the essence of Canon’s philosophy of kyosei, which means all people living and working together for the common good. “
Images from the “Food for Thought” online exhibit, range from whimsical food shots to inspiring subject shots and were unveiled Oct. 7 at a launch at King Street’s Veritas restaurant, which is owned by Brad Long, one of the exhibit participants.
Wayne Doyle, vice-president, Communications, Canon, introduced the exhibit, saying, “This year we’ve got the best crop of images I’ve seen in five years of doing this.” And, speaking on behalf of the chefs who participated, chef Michael Smith added his own sentiments, saying, “the camera has been welded to my wrist for six months. These photos represent the hidden talent many chefs have, but it also represents a natural altruism that chefs have.”
Chefs who participated in the 2009 project include: Brad Long, Michael Smith, Mark McEwan, Anthony Walsh, Anthony Sedlak, Lorna Murdoch, Anita Stewart, Robert Clark, Remi Cousyn, Jud Simpson, Susur Lee, Craig Flinn and Michael Blackie. To coincide with Thanksgiving and, on behalf of the 13 celebrity chefs, Canon Canada presented Food Banks Canada with a cheque for $25,000.
