“Kraft Foods is already a long-time strategic foodservice partner of Tim Hortons and their Tassimo brand is a high-quality product we are excited to bring into our restaurants,” said Paul House, executive chairman, CEO and president, Tim Hortons. “We look forward to entering this rapidly growing market.” According to Nielsen Research, the on-demand single-serve category has seen triple-digit growth in Canada and North America in the last year, accounting for more than $800 million in sales within North America. Second Cup partnered with Tassimo earlier this year. Kraft’s Tim Hortons T Discs will be available at the chain’s stores in Canada and the U.S. In other Tim Hortons news, the company has reported an 11.8-per-cent increase in total revenue in second-quarter earnings, from $702.8 million to $785.6 million, year over year. The increase is credited to higher system-wide sales, royalties and franchise fees.
