Canadians hunting for a big bucket of battered bird might have a harder time locating one in the near future. Toronto-based Priszm Income Fund announced in October it’s restructuring its current 484-outlet operation — closing 25 restaurants and selling 120 others. “It’s a truly negative indication of where they’re going,” says John Sotos, a partner at Toronto franchise law firm, Sotos LLP. “It’s not a good news story for the unitholders or anyone else.” Priszm is the Canadian master franchisor for Yum Brands, Inc., based in Lousiville, Ky., and operates KFC, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut and Long John Silver’s.
