BOUCHERVILLE, Que. — Management of Sportscene Group Inc., operator of the La Cage Aux Sports chain of resto-bars, has announced the departure of vice-president, Finance and Administration, Gilles Lacombe, who has left the company to pursue new interests.

Sportscene has designated Josée Pépin, manager, Accounting and Disclosure of Groupe Sportscene, to temporarily assume Lacombe's previous duties.

Sportscene Group Reports Record Quarter PDF Print E-mail

BOUCHERVILLE, Que. — Sportscene Restaurant Group Inc., based in Boucherville, Que., has reported record quarterly earnings of $1.6 million, for the period ended May 30, on a five per cent total network sales gain, rising to $31.7 million compared with $30.2 million in 2009.

Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) improved from 14.7 per cent in the third quarter of 2009 to 15.8 per cent this year, reversing declines experienced during the first two quarters of fiscal 2010. The gains are thanks to increased profit margins, lower financial expenses and a prime sport’s season, with the Montreal Canadiens’ making the Stanley Cup playoffs.

MONTREAL — Normand Laprise, and his partner Christine Lamarche, impressed with their culinary gem Toqué! and today, June 25, a new baby is being born in Montreal at the new  Brasserie T!.

Designed to be the cheaper cousin of its predecessor, the 55-seat space, which overlooks the fountains of the new Quartier through a glass wall, is opening just in time for the launch of the Montreal International Jazz Festival, minus the booze, which won’t be approved for sale until early next month.

snowwhite2MONTREAL — Local food is perhaps the most important trend in Canadian restaurant cuisine today, but the culinary team at Montreal’s Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth has taken it to a new level, recently adopting a goat, affectionately named Blanche Neige (Snow White), to make the hotel’s signature cheeses for its restaurant The Beaver Club.

A registered “show goat” with an impressive pedigree, Snow White was adopted from the local Fromagerie du Vieux St-François as part of the hotel’s ongoing commitment to support local cuisine and small artisan producers. While living at the fromagerie, Snow White will produce cheese for The Beaver Club and the Fairmont Store.
