TORONTO — The 2012 list of Canada’s Greenest Employers has been released just in time for Earth Day Sunday, April 22, and contract-caterers Compass Group Canada and Sodexo Canada Ltd. are among the foodservice winners.

The Sodexo team is excited about the acknowledgement of its corporate promise. “The ambitious commitments we have made as part of our Better Tomorrow Plan guide the actions of our employees,” said Dean Johnson, president of Sodexo Canada. “This recognition is one we’re extremely proud of and shows we’re truly committed to the advancement of sustainability initiatives in Canada and that these values are a key part of our corporate culture.”

Mediacorp Canada, a Toronto-based publisher of employment periodicals, is behind the list that was judged based on each company’s unique initiatives and programs, the success of reducing its carbon footprint, the degree employees are involved and the extent the new initiatives have been linked to the company’s public identity.
