Weston Remark Angers Farming Community PDF Print E-mail

TORONTO — The Toronto culinary community is atwitter with news that Galen Weston snubbed farmers at the Canadian Food Summit held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, yesterday, Feb. 7.

According to the Toronto Star, the executive chairman of Loblaw Cos. Ltd., made a comment while talking about Canada’s food system and food inspections.

“Farmers’ markets are great...” he said, before adding: “One day they’re going to kill some people though.” Immediately afterward he said: “I’m just saying that to be dramatic.”
