Compass Group Canada Pulls Plug on C5 Restaurant at ROM PDF Print E-mail

TORONTO — Toronto’s C5 restaurant inside the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) will be closed at month’s end after its restaurant operator, Compass Group Canada, re-evaluated its commitment to the foodservice operation.

Kathy Salazar, Compass Group Canada, explains. “Compass Group Canada recently determined to re-evaluate its foodservice operations at the museum. Subsequently, Compass notified the ROM it would terminate its agreement to operate C5,” she said in an email to F&H.

Montreal Lifts Ban on Street Food PDF Print E-mail

MONTREAL — The city of Montreal is lifting its 65-year-old ban on street food, with plans to create unique street cuisine “à la montréalaise.”

“We will look into locations and determine the type of food, and the objective is not to have direct competition with the actual restaurants from the commercial streets,” said Montreal Mayor Michael Applebaum at a news conference.
