City of Toronto Approves Mandatory Menu Labelling |

TORONTO — Following months of debate, Toronto’s Board of Health has approved mandatory menu labelling, which may require chain restaurants to post sodium and calorie counts on their menus.
The Board voted 9 to 2 in favour of the report, according to The Globe and Mail. The legislation would affect chain restaurants in Toronto with 10 or more outlets nationwide or at least $10 million in gross annual revenues.

TORONTO — Quesada Burritos and Tacos, a fast-casual Toronto-based Mexican chain, is expanding across Canada, with the addition of three area developers in Toronto, Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec.
The plan is to add at least 90 new restaurants within the next five years.

According to BlogTo, Beer Hall will feature bierschnaps, a very niche product produced at a few German breweries.

TORONTO — Oliver and Bonacini’s Jump restaurant has reopened with a new chef and bar menu in its freshly revamped space, following a month-long renovation.
Paul Benallick, formerly of Trump’s Stock, will serve as chef de cuisine at the restaurant that features a new updated design.
