TORONTO — MTY Food Group Inc. has capitalized on its banner of 27 brands, opening its own food court at Yonge Street and King Street in Toronto.
“We are always looking for new opportunities to expand our concepts, therefore, it makes sense to team up a few of our MTY brands and create our very own food court,” said Stanley Ma, president and CEO of the Quebec-based company. |

TORONTO — Owners of The Real Jerk restaurant are breathing a sigh of relief after being awarded an injunction allowing their Toronto eatery to remain open until the end of 2012 in spite of a notice to vacate issued when the building was sold late last year.
“I’m so happy that it’s turned out,” Ed Pottinger, the restaurant’s owner, told The Globe and Mail. “I knew that I had rights.” |

TORONTO — Bloke and 4th, a new resto-lounge serving seasonal dishes with unique food pairings, will begin accepting reservations tomorrow, Feb. 2.
The resto-lounge, which serves dinner till 10 pm before morphing into a dance party, is operated by Adrian Niman and Brent McClenahan of The Food Dudes catering company; Steven Georgiev, an entrepreneur and venture capitalist; and Alex Burgess who will man the kitchen. |
