CHARLOTTETOWN — The Charlottetown breakfast institution Maid Marian’s has reopened, nine months after a fire ripped through its interior.

According to the CBC, the new and improved diner was rebuilt to allow for more parking and 10 extra seats to serve a loyal set of patrons, who almost lost their chance to eat at the neighbourhood haunt again.

It turns out that the owners took the fire as a sign to close up shop for good, reports The Guardian. It was the outpouring of love and support from fans of the 22-year-old town mainstay that changed their minds.

Firefighters were never able to determine what caused the May 2009 fire.
