HALIFAX — The popular Jane’s on the Common restaurant, established in Halifax in 2003, has added retail to its two existing businesses. The sit-down restaurant, which grew with the opening of Jane’s Next Door brown-bag lunch and take-away shop, is now selling frozen dishes at the Halifax location of Pete’s, a specialty retailer. Holly Chmelyk, operations manager at Pete’s, is optimistic about the venture even though the grocer already has its own line of frozen-meal products as well as a line of freshly prepared dishes for takeaway. “We have an entire frozen-food section, and it’s exciting to add our first locally prepared selection,” Chmelyk told The Chronicle Herald. Prices of the new line from Jane’s vary, with Boeuf Bourguignon ranging from $8 for a single serving to $18 for a large serving. Keep Reading Atlantic Wine Institute Launches N.S.
