Crab Fishermen Reach New Price Deal, End Strike |

ST.JOHNS, N.L. — Newfoundland and Labrador fisherman are racing to catch crab following a deal that ended a weekend strike over pricing, reports CBC News.
Crab fishermen were ready to put their boats back in the water after The Fish, Food and Allied Workers (FFAW) union negotiated a deal with seafood producers, increasing the price of crab by 17 cents, to $2 per pound.

ST. JOHN’S, N.L. — The KFC franchise is slowly gaining momentum in Newfoundland since New Brunswick’s Franchise Management Inc. (FMI) — which franchises Pizza Hut, Taco Bell and Subway — announced plans to open six new locations next year, according to The Telegram.

TORONTO — Vancouver, Richmond and Burnaby, B.C., are joining forces on a bylaw to remove shark fins from restaurant menus, according to CBC News.
“We wanted to make sure if we banned it in Vancouver, for example, then people just didn't go to Richmond, or if Richmond banned it, they would just come back to Vancouver,” Kerry Jang, Vancouver city councillor told the CBC.

NEWFOUNDLAND — Renee Marquis, a KFC franchise owner of 10 restaurants in Newfoundland is letting her franchise license expire so she can open healthier fare restaurants, reports the National Post.
“We have beautiful wild produce in Newfoundland; we’re surrounded by the ocean. I want to give people a fresh option, not just haul something out of a freezer or open up a tin and charge premium price for junk food.” said Marquis as quoted by the National Post.
