CHARLOTTETOWN — Tourism P.E.I.’s new tourism marketing strategy aims to lure more visitors to the island with its new gourmet food-truck program, reports CBC.

“They will obviously be using our Prince Edward Island products, like potatoes and mussels and beef, and ensuring that we create some recipes that really highlight Prince Edward Island culinary delights,” Brenda Gallant, Tourism PEI marketing director told CBC.

salmonNOVA SCOTIA — Some Nova Scotia foodservice operators are concerned following recent reports that specific farmed salmon in the province has been found to have infectious salmon anaemia, reports CBC News.

“My choices to not serve salmon were simply based on the fact that there are just too many unresolved issues right now," said Michael Howell, the former owner of the Tempest Restaurant World Cuisine in Wolfville, as quoted by CBC News. “Any time any customer hears there are issues, they're going to be scared away."

FREDERICTON — The Garrison District Ale House in Fredericton is undergoing a complete rebuild after a fire destroyed it in early January.

“At this point it looks like there will be a four to six month period before we re-open. Construction crews will be spending a few weeks stripping everything down before the rebuild,” the owners announced on the restaurant’s Facebook page, adding that the wine survived the fire as it was stored in a temperature-controlled vault.

FREDERICTON — The food truck scene may be motoring, but one owner in Fredericton is packing up his truck and travelling west.

Jamie Lynch, who owns Fresh Mobile Bistro, a truck that serves lobster rolls, chicken sliders and frites out of Fredericton’s Northside Market during the winter months, has reportedly been asked to leave by the market’s management after a dispute.
